AL CHENEY (STREET STOCKS), JEFF TAYLOR (SPRINTS) AND RAIN BIG WINNERS AT EAST WINDSOR SPEEDWAY FRIDAY NIGHT

EAST WINDSOR, N.J. ~ Defending Street Stock champion Al Cheney III of Cranbury, Windsor Outlaw Sprint Car driver Jeff Taylor and rain accompanied by thunder and lightning were the big winners at the East Windsor Speedway on Friday night. The 25-lap Modified main event and the 20-lap Sportsman feature race that were washed out by the late-evening rains will be made up at a date that will be announced soon.

Cheney, whose No. 73 sported a large sail panel for "Run What Ya Brung" night action, started 19th on the 25-car grid and immediately started his charge to the front while George Idell led the early laps. Kevin Bifulco of Monmouth Junction then took the lead with three laps complete as Cheney advanced to second on the fourth lap.

Cheney then needed just one lap to size up his foe before he rocketed into the lead and then raced on to his third win of the season. Rob Ormsbee of Jackson was the runner-up, while Bifulco, Jackson's Keith Flores and Frank Dorry of Ringoes completed the top five.

Jeff Taylor led the majority of the 10-lap Windsor Outlaw Sprint car feature to grab his second win of the year. Mark Bitner posted a strong late-race charge, but was forced to settle for second. Bill Miller and Jeff Harvey were third and fourth.

Friday night racing continues weekly at the East Windsor Speedway with the first green flag waving at 7:30 p.m. This Friday evening, June 7, the Modifieds battle in the fan-favorite "Twin-20's", with the Sportsman cars racing 20-laps and the Street Stocks competing in a 15-lapper. The Limited Sprint Cars will have the night off as they do during every "Twin-20's" program.
