PAUCH WINS MODIFIEDS, CHENEY TOPS STREET STOCKS
AND BUFFALINO AND PRATT TOP
SPORTSMAN AT EAST WINDSOR SPEEDWAY FRIDAY NIGHT
EAST WINDSOR, N.J. ~ On a night where everyone was completing unfinished business, Billy Pauch of Frenchtown tasted victory in a 25-lap main event for
Modified stock cars, Al Cheney of Cranbury was the big winner in the 15-lapper for the Street Stocks and Dom Buffalino of South River and Richie Pratt of
Hurffville were Sportsman winners at the East Windsor Speedway. While one of Friday night's main events was made up from a rain postponement on May 31, the
other three were being completed after being stopped cold by a violent storm one
week earlier.
In the Modified 25-lapper, Jon Packenham of North Brunswick was the first leader
before Ryan Godown of Ringoes took control on lap four. All the while Pauch was charging from 12th before taking control on the sixth circuit. Pauch led the
rest of the way for his fourth win of the campaign, while Kenny Brightbill of Sinking Spring, Pa. made the comeback of the night finishing second after being
involved in a mid-race tangle. Mark Bitner of Allentown, Neshanic Station's Fred
Dmuchowski and Milford's Bruce Hooper wrapped up the top five.
Cheney started 21st in the Street Stock main event, but was able to wrestle his way to the front and took command on the fifth lap. From then on Cheney was the
class of the field racing to his seventh win this season, while Pat Freiberger of Allentown held off Wall's Rob Ormsbee for second. Paul Marra, Jr. of
Bordentown and Jackson's Keith Flores were fourth and fifth.
Dom Buffalino, Jr. came from fourth to take the lead on the second lap and then
raced on to win the first of two Sportsman 20-lappers on the night. Pratt was second in this one, with Mike Lyons of Hightstown, Joey Tinnes of Bradley
Gardens and Brian Pearson of Red Lion completing the top five.
In the night's second Sportsman 20, Pratt came from 14th to take the lead on the
sixth lap. Pratt then cruised to victory, with Lyons and Rob Shuster of Trenton second and third. Rick Holsten of Dayton and Garrett Luzi of Greenbrook were
fourth and fifth.
Friday night racing continues weekly at the East Windsor Speedway with the first
green flag waving at 7:30 p.m. This Friday evening, August 16, the Modifieds battle in
a 25-lap main event, with the Sportsman cars racing 20-laps and the Street Stocks competing in a 15-lapper. The events of the evening will serve to
honor the late founder of the Area Auto Racing News, Leonard Sammons, Jr. Many members of the Sammons family, including AARN publisher Lenny Sammons, will be
on hand.
